Josh Williams sponsor NASCAR

NASCAR suspended driver Josh Williams last week after he pulled a crazy stunt during a race.

A week later, the Xfinity Series driver has turned that stunt in to a lucrative sponsorship.

The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck reported Wednesday that Parking Guidance Systems, which installs parking space sensors in garages, will sponsor Williams’ and teammate Alex Labbe’s cars for several races this season.

Recall that Williams earned a one-race suspension from NASCAR after he parked his car on the track and walked away during the recent race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. NASCAR had ordered Williams to pit because his car was dropping debris on the track; officials certainly did not expect him to abandon the car at the start/finish line.

Hmm, sounds like someone needs a little “parking guidance,” right? Thus the perfect sponsor partnership was hatched.

“Thankfully, I won’t have to worry about parking it in the wrong spot anymore,” Williams said, in announcing his new sponsor.

According to Gluck, the company will sponsor Labbe’s car at Richmond this weekend, as Williams already had a sponsor for that race. Williams will carry the sponsor in other races.

Just in case you missed Williams’ stunt, here it is again. NASCAR cited several violations in suspending him for last weekend’s race at Circuit of the Americas. This is not acceptable behavior, so maybe he does need some parking assistance.
