The United States Women’s National team faced a big match in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Wednesday night with a chance to win their group with a victory over the Netherlands. Unfortunately, they couldn’t quite do it, drawing 1-1. And superstar Alex Morgan isn’t necessarily happy about it.

After the game, Alex Morgan made it clear that the draw was not what the United States was looking for on Wednesday night, saying that the team was “a bit unlucky” not to be able to score a second goal late in the match to pull off the win.

“We’re not happy if we’re not getting the win. Obviously it puts first place in the group up for grabs now, so we have to close the job when we play against Portugal in a few days,” Morgan said according to clutch sports. “Not to get the second goal was a bit unlucky. We played in their half the entire second half. I don’t even think they had dangerous opportunities in the second half.”

Now, the United States will likely have to beat Portugal in order to win the group. And there’s now a real possibility that the group could be determined by goal differential.
