Many people were worried when the news reported that former Premier soccer league player Christian Atsu was missing after a 7.8 earthquake hit the country of Turkey.

Thousands are feared dead and there was concern that Atsu was one of the victims. Atsu’s team Hatayspor announced that the star has been found under some rubble and was pulled to safety.

“Christian Atsu was pulled out injured,” Mustafa Özat, the vice president of Hatayspor of the Turkish Super Lig, told Radyo Gol on Tuesday. “Our sporting director, Taner Savut, is unfortunately still under the rubble.”

The earthquake has claimed so far over 5,000 lives with thousands still missing including as Ozat said the team’s sporting director Taner Savut.

According to reports, even the aftershocks were at a 7.5 magnitude. The earthquake is one of the largest of all time and many fear that the death toll will continue to rise as more and more people are found in the rubble.

Atsu was one of the lucky ones who were found early enough that his life was saved, however, no one knows how badly injured he is.

But as of now, that doesn’t matter. The important thing is that he was saved and hopefully didn’t sustain any major injuries and that he will be able to recover.
