Lionel Messi bodyguard

How famous is Lionel Messi?

He’s so huge that even his bodyguard is becoming a celebrity.

One of the most recognizable figures on the planet, Messi stunned the sports world when he joined the Inter Miami MLS team in June. The Argentine superstar, one of the greatest players of all time, wasted no time making his presence felt in the U.S., scoring early and often and attracting crowds where ever he goes.

And that presents the potential for trouble, with a global icon earning up to $60 million a year walking around in this day and age.

Enter Yassine Chueko, Messi’s bodyguard. He reportedly follows Messi around everywhere. He even patrols the sideline at MLS matches like an overzealous parent stalking back-and-forth at a youth event.

It didn’t take long for the media to notice Chueko’s presence. He’s been featured recently in numerous articles and has turned up in Twitter videos.

According to the Daily Mail, Chueko is a former Navy Seal who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He’s a martial arts expert who has competed in MMA fights.

Chueko came on to protect Messi at the request of Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham, no stranger to intrusive fans himself back in the day.

Bottom line: Don’t mess with Messi. Because no one wants to end up on the wrong side of a guy with these kinds of moves:
