United States Women’s National Team legend Megan Rapinoe was playing the final match of her professional career on Saturday night when she had what she described as “the worst possible outcome,” suffering what she believed to be a ruptured Achilles just six minutes into the match. It was so devastating to Rapinoe that she claimed it was proof that God did not exist.

During her postgame press conference on Saturday night, Megan Rapinoe was opening up about her injury to reporters when she decided to make a joke about, suggesting that her injury is proof that there is not a god.

“I’m not a religious person or anything and if there was a god, like, this is proof that there isn’t,” Megan Rapinoe said according to a video shared by Area Sports Net. “This is [messed] up. It’s just [messed] up. Six minutes in and I eat my Achilles.”

The 38-year-old was playing the final match of her soccer career when her OL Reign squad took on NJ/NY Gotham in the NWSL final on Saturday night, but her final match was short-lived as she went down with an Achilles injury just six minutes into the game after she said she heard a “pop.”
