With the start of the Premier League, the rush amongst the bettors reaches its peak. Top betting sites get huge traffic even before the Premier League starts. Bets of all sorts are made. The top categories are the leading goalscorer, goalkeeper with most clean sheets, and of course, Premier League Player of the Season.

This season too, bettors’ eyes will be on the renowned players who might land the player of the season award in their name. Let us see the names who stand a good chance to win the player of the season award in the EPL 2021-22 season.

Top Contenders for Premier League’s Player of the Season

While the list can go on to include over two dozen names, we have kept it brief by including players who have performed remarkably well in the past seasons. This makes them a strong contender to land the Premier League Player of the Season award.

Mohammad Salah

The Egyptian King has started the 2021-22 season like the world-class player he is dubbed to be. One can even say that Salah is at his peak this season, and if it goes like this, it won’t be shocking to see him break his own Premier League record of 32 goals in a season. As of 22/10/2021, Salah is leading the top-scorer charts, with Jamie Vardy closely following him. A few weeks ago, Salah’s stellar goal against Manchester City is surely going down in the history books as one of the best goals ever. For bettors, Salah is, as one of the commentators once put it about him, “the hottest property in the Premier League” this season.

Kevin De Bruyne

What Steven Gerrard was to Liverpool and Frank Lampard to Chelsea, Kevin De Bruyne is turning out to be for Manchester City. Comparing him with the legends of EPL might seem too much, but the skills he displays on the field validate this claim. His passing abilities and long-range shots are of such a high level that he managed to win PFA Player of the Year twice and Premier League Player of the Season once. Recent injuries had somewhat affected his performance, but KDB is a force of his own at his fittest.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane’s Premier League season start to the 2021-22 season has been a bit rough, for he had so far managed to score only once in a 3-2 win against Newcastle United. But this does not rule him out of the roost for the best player of the season. There is still a long way to go. And while Premier League goals had been hard to come by for Harry Kane, he has been prolific for Tottenham in Europe as well as for his national team. This puts him in an interesting position, and it remains to be seen if the goal at Newcastle will unleash Harry Kane’s form as we know it.

Ruben Dias

Ruben Dias’s immediate impact in Manchester City earned him the player of the season award in 2020-21. His aerial abilities and leadership qualities have rejuvenated the defensive force of Manchester City. Dias has become for Manchester City what Virgil Van Djik is for Liverpool: a star defender with all the potential to grab yet another silverware in his name. Many are calling him the successor of Vincent Kompany, but it would be too early to make that claim. However, one thing is for sure: his past year performance has made him a strong candidate to become the best in the league again.

N’Golo Kante

The midfield maestro was the main driving force behind Chelsea’s thrilling UEFA Champions League win. For a man who is dubbed as too humble, Kante’s domination in midfield speaks on his behalf. He won the Premier League Player of the Season in 2016-17 and since then has been quite the man for Chelsea. If you are looking for a complete player in the Premier League for attacking, assisting, passing, and defending, it is N’Golo Kante. Given how sensational KDB has been for City in the past few years, another world-class run from Kante in this season can surely make him the best player of the season.

Many other names can come out at the top with some honorary mentions like Aubameyang, Mendy, Alisson, Ederson, Bruno Fernandes and Mane. With the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, it is also quite possible to see CR7 repeating his feat as the best out there.
