Tom Brady has been really busy during his retirement. Brady has announced that he has minority ownership stakes with the Las Vegas Raiders, the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, and now the EFL Championship’s Birmingham City FC.
Brady made the announcement last week with much fanfare. He joins famous celebrities such as actor Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who co-own AFC Wrexham. Wrexham plays in EFL League Two, two levels below Birmingham City. The EFL Championship is the second tier of the British soccer pyramid, behind only the Premier League.
Reynolds welcomed Brady into the world of soccer ownership, and said he’s excited about the challenge.
“I know Tom a little bit and I don’t think you need to know him to know he has the spirit of a lion and a competitor in every way, shape and form,” Reynolds said according to the Daily Mail via Sky Sports News.
“Whatever he has cooked up for Birmingham, he is going to bring it. Come on in, the water is warm!.” he added.
Wrexham won their fifth-level National League this past season, earning promotion to League Two.
When asked if they would offer Brady any advice about being an owner, McElhenny said that he thinks Brady should offer them advice.
“I would never give Tom Brady words of wisdom over professional sports,” McElhenney said. “But Tom, if you have any advice for us, you could send it our way!”
Brady reportedly will chair Birmingham City’s advisory board.
