Earlier this week, Netherlands women’s soccer star Lineth Beerensteyn decided to talk some trash about the United States Women’s National Team after hearing they were eliminated from the World Cup, and now a USWNT legend is clapping back after the Netherlands suffered a loss of their own.

This week, Beerensteyn celebrated the USWNT’s elimination from the tournament, blasting the team for having “really big mouths” and talking as if they were going to make the World Cup final after winning the previous two tournaments.

“From the first moment I heard they were out, I was just like, ‘Yes! Bye!” she said according to ESPN. “From the start of the tournament, they had really big mouths and were already talking about the final.”

But after the Netherlands was eliminated with a 2-1 loss to Spain, former Sydney Leroux mocked Beerensteyn on Twitter.

“One thing we’ve learned is wait to talk [trash] until after you’re on the podium with a gold medal because now… you’re bye too,” Lereoux wrote to her 2.1 million followers.

Leroux played in 77 matches throughout her career with the USWNT, scoring 35 goals in those matches. She helped lead the team to the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup title. So she’s earned her right to talk a little trash herself.
