A massive upset just occurred in the 2023 FA Cup.

5-seeded Wrexham has just defeated 2-seeded Coventry City. The 4-3 victory on Saturday assured the club that they would go on through to the fourth round of the FA Cup. It’s a huge upset, as Coventry City plays in the EFL Championship, the second-highest football league in England. Meanwhile, Wrexham plays in the National League, the fifth-highest football league in England. So a three-league difference between the two clubs, which is absolutely gigantic.

ESPN FC tweeted, “WREXHAM ARE THROUGH TO THE FOURTH ROUND OF THE FA CUP” to exude their shock at the news.

Wrexham will now move to Fourth Round Proper action. That will commence later this month on Saturday, January 28. Should they shock again, Wrexham would play in the Quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 1.

Of course, Wrexham has gained fame worldwide, as it’s owned by actors Ryan McElhenney and ‘Deadpool’ star, Ryan Reynolds.

Kyle Sheldon, a lead marketing manager in soccer, considered the win “Absolute magic.”

Reynolds himself reacted to the victory. “I’m completely and totally speechless,” Reynolds tweeted. “What a club. What a town. What a win. @Wrexham_AFC forever.”

During the match, McElhenney was frantic, as the ESPN+ feed went down!

Reporter Amos Murphy tweeted a video, showing players and fans celebrating, and considered them “thoroughly deserving of that win.”
