Over the weekend, WNBA superstar Brittney Griner participated in the WNBA All-Star Game, marking the ninth time in her career she received the honor. And during the game, she did what few other players in the history of women’s basketball have ever been able to do – dunk the basketball. But some people were extremely critical of the extraordinary feat.
During the first quarter of this weekend’s WNBA All-Star game, Brittney Griner got a chance to show off her athleticism when she took a fast-break pass, took a quick dribble, gathered, and then threw down a powerful one-handed slam.
The WNBA was quick to share a clip of the impressive feat on their official Twitter account.

“BG IS BACKKKK,” the WNBA said in a Tweet. “Brittney Griner with the early slam on ABC!”
However, not everyone was impressed by the play from Griner as many people took to social media to blast the WNBA superstar for what appears to be a an uncalled travel as she gathers for the dunk.
She better watch out. Last time she traveled like that she ended up in a Russian prison https://t.co/4XM2ljgjin

I like how she somehow travelled twice on the same play and the announcer still pretends he's watching Jordan from the free throw line. https://t.co/BVkGduDm9Q

Though Griner may have taken an extra step or two on this play, it doesn’t change the fact that she is one of seven players ever to dunk a basketball in a WNBA game, and that’s undeniably impressive.
