Sabrina Ionescu became the victim of theft, the basketball superstar revealed on Thursday. What’s more, is that Ionescu announced that it was her shoes that were robbed from her, and one terrible detail paints the entire picture. It’s the fact that the shoes were stolen at an opposing team’s arena.

“Never thought I would get my shoes stolen from an opposing arena… Please just bring me my insoles back. RIP to my Sabrina 1s,” Ionescu posted on X.

Ionescu and the New York Liberty have enjoyed success this season, but this is quite an unfortunate event to occur, especially considering the circumstances. The robbery allegedly seems to have happened following a recent game between the Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces at Michelob Ultra Arena.

WNBA reporter Khristina Williams added to the story, posting, “Ionescu’s shoes were specifically modified to her feet due to previous injury history. A source tells me that Liberty staff will review footage with Michelob Ultra Arena security to try and find the culprit.”

It’s an extremely tough situation and a bad look for security at Michelob Ultra Arena, to say the very least. But hopefully, the perpetrator is found and then brought to justice. And, hopefully, not before the shoes are sold or something absurd like that.

The sports world reacted to the horrible news.
