The tragic passing of Windham Rotunda, AKA Bray Wyatt, on August 24 sent shockwaves throughout the professional wrestling community.
Wyatt was just 36 years old and had wrestled in a WWE match as recently as January 2023.
WWE Superstar Raquel Rodriguez joined Jessica Kleinschmidt on the Short and to the Point podcast to discuss Wyatt’s impact on both her own reaction to the passing and professional wrestling’s in general.
Rodriguez praised Wyatt as both a wrestler and a person, saying, “He was such an innovator, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that and everything everyone has said about him is true. He was so humble and so kind, and so willing to make you feel comfortable as well, and chat with you if you needed to chat.”
Rodriguez also said that while everyone has been sad, the locker room has been very supportive and been there for each other, noting, “It’s been hard on a lot of people in the WWE community but I can say that everybody’s really come together and just kind of checked on everyone and made sure everyone’s handling this in the best way possible.”
Rodriguez continued, “They become an extension of your family and you build relationships with these people and it’s really cool to know that you always have someone to talk to, to hug, to go to if you need advice or if you just need to vent,” she said of her WWE coworkers.
