Every quarterback wants to have faith in their wide receivers, but perhaps something that was meant tongue in cheek or as a motivational tactic can be taken too far. That appears to be the case with a former NFL quarterback that now plays for the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL.

Ben DiNucci recently made some bold claims about the Sea Dragons’ wide receiver room, while taking a shot — intended or not — at the Dallas Cowboys. DiNucci spoke highly of his wide receivers on “Player 54: Chasing the XFL Dream,” during a recent episode of the all-access show, which can be seen on ESPN+. Those comments have now circulated and taken social media by storm.

“Head-to-toe, this is probably the best receiver room I’ve been in,” DiNucci said. “It’s just a group of guys that come to work every single day, wanting to get better, asking questions. Everyone kind of comes together for a common goal in the locker room.”

The wide receiver room in Seattle consists of Josh Gordon, Juwan Green, Blake Jackson, Kelvin Mcknight, Jahcour Pearson, Jordan Veasy and Damion Willis. In Dallas, DiNucci had the chance to play with players like Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup and Cedrick Wilson, Jr., which makes his comments a bit curious. It’s not to say that the Sea Dragons don’t have talented wide receivers, but of those players listed above — Josh Gordon — is likely the only one familiar to the average football fan.

Those in the NFL world roasted DiNucci on social media after he threw shade at the Cowboys:
