Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat met the giraffe named after him and a new friendship seemed to be formed.
Gortat posted pictures on his Instagram where he fed his “godson” Gortat. Warning: The pictures are extremely adorable.

Back in April, the Warsaw Zoo named a giraffe after the Wizards center. They wrote the young giraffe got the name because both are tall.
Much like the pandas in DC, The Warsaw Zoo also has a new superstar. It recently welcomed a new addition to its family, a special giraffe named#Gortat! That’s right, the baby giraffe is named after Washington Wizards starting center Marcin Gortat who has become her “godfather” because they are both tall!
That’s a perfectly acceptable reason to name the giraffe after Gortat. The 6’11” center has a huge reach and is the right man to feed the young giraffe.
Hopefully, Gortat visits the giraffe version of Gortat whenever he’s back in Poland. The duo seem to be a perfect fit together.
