The Chicago Cubs aren’t even 24 hours removed from winning their first title in 108 years and bettors are already pegging the talented club as favorites entering 2017.

ESPN.com reports the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook has (understandably) tabbed the Cubs as the major favorite, giving the reigning World Series champions 3-1 odds to take home the Commissioner’s Trophy in 2017. Chicago’s talented young core (barring trades) remains largely intact – hence, why bookmakers made the club the only team with single-digit odds.

Rounding out the top five are the Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals, and Boston Red Sox all at 10-1 odds, and both the New York Mets and Cleveland Indians at 12-1.

The worst odds aren’t surprising. The Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Angels, Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Twins, and Oakland Athletics are all tied as the longest shots at 100-1 odds.

Chicago is a good bet to repeat as World Series winners as the odds suggest, but for those looking to cash out big time, Cleveland is the more lucrative bet. For once, Chicago has hope to believe they can repeat as champions.
