Rams email

The Rams officially relocated from St. Louis to Los Angeles back in January, but that’s not going to stop Stan Kroenke from advertising Rams gear to fans in his team’s old city.

Many former Rams season ticket holders in St. Louis got an e-mail with hats and jerseys now on sale recently, which is odd considering the team no longer calls that city home.

“Limited Time. Free Shipping over $40” read the email.

“Rams sideline headwear worn by the players and coaches during the 2016 season.”

Also included was a link to the “Rams jersey collection”, for those who want to take it that one step further. None of the gear made any visible reference to Los Angeles, as if that was going to really be the tipping point for St. Louis based customers. Many of the fans who received the e-mail were none too pleased.

“When I got this email, I thought at first someone was playing a sick joke on me,” said Joseph Nassif of Creve Coeur. “When I realized it was from the Rams, I was shocked.”

A fan named Todd Thrasher wasn’t thrilled.

“Sending an email wanting me to buy more gear right around the time I’d normally be getting my season tickets in the mail,” Thrasher said. “No surprise considering the way they’ve treated the fans and this city. I’m one of those long-time season ticket-holders who was lied to right to my face by (Kevin) Demoff. It was easy for me to just hit ‘unsubscribe.’ I just hope the Rams’ organization didn’t hide some malware in that ‘unsubscribe’ link!”

A Rams spokesperson said the e-mails were mistakenly sent to fans in St. Louis from an old database, which was still in use, oddly enough. After a group of former St. Louis Rams played a scrimmage at the Edward Jones Domes as sort of a “final goodbye” for the team, this e-mail probably didn’t help soothe any frayed nerves.

Another fan named Jay Wessler was upset he didn’t even get a “thanks!” from the team.

“I didn’t receive a note, phone call, or email saying they were leaving or thanks for my 21 years of loyal service . . . but a kiss-my-(butt) denial,” Wessler said. “I have tried to respond and get my deposit returned but I am not having any luck. But I am confident I will.”

Many Rams fans in St. Louis are trying to forget their now departed team, but the team itself, basking in the Southern California glow, are apparently trying to prevent them from doing that. How nice.
