Maurice Allen

Move over, Charles Barkley. Long driver Maurice Allen officially has the hottest take on the NBA Finals.

At the Clash in the Canyon long drive competition on Tuesday, Allen proclaimed long drivers are “absolutely the best athletes on Earth,” and NBA and NFL players can’t hold a candle to them:

“Man, I’ll be 100 percent honest with you. These guys out here are absolutely the best athletes on Earth. I don’t care about the NBA Finals, I don’t care about football. These guys have been professional athletes in everything.

“Thank God that I got this win. Thank you Lord for the glory in that. Me personally, man, I’m just out here having fun. I had pneumonia a couple weeks ago, I wasn’t supposed to be out here. I’ve had people praying for me. This is for everybody in Pine Hills, Florida. My coach who’s a dentist. Nobody believed I was supposed to make it. My swing is ugly. I got a hitch like Charles Barkley. My coach is a dentist. I wasn’t supposed to make it, but by the grace of God, I am here and I’m gonna keep going. I’m gonna keep going for the people who have no voice. That’s why I’m here.”

When his hot take made it onto Sportscenter, Allen kept the fire burning by tagging Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Steph Curry in a tweet.

Long drivers can hit golf balls over 400 feet, and the world record is an insane 515 feet. Still, baseball players hit balls that are not sitting still on a tee over 400-foot outfield fences every day. You definitely highly skilled and athletic to be a long driver, but I have a inkling LeBron James would whoop this guy’s ass in one-on-one whereas LeBron’s pure strength might at least make him competitive in long driving with a bit of training.

Remember, LeBron also never gets tired.
