Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson announced Sunday he will soon sell the team amid allegations that he sexually harassed team employees and referred to a team scout by a racial slur.
Come this offseason, the Panthers will hit the auction block and likely spark quite a bidding war. Among the potential bidders: rapper/producer/mogul/businessman Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, P. Diddy, Puffy and Puff Daddy.
Diddy, who is reportedly worth $880 million, tweeted that he wants to buy the Panthers, thereby becoming the first African-American majority owner in the NFL.

Though he hasn’t bought the team yet, Diddy has already decided his first personnel move. On Instagram, he announced that upon purchasing the team he will immediately sign Colin Kaepernick and give him a shot at the starting quarterback role. Diddy also vowed to have “the best halftime show.”
If Diddy is serious about this, his first step will be to stop saying “North Carolina Panthers.” His second step will be to seek out investors. One potential option? North Carolina native Steph Curry, who tweeted Sunday that he wants in.

There would certainly be some poetry in a slur-using, protest-opposing owner being replaced by a black hip-hop mogul who would immediately sign Kaepernick.
As Diddy pointed out, he’s got fate on his side.
