Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder has refused to accept a subpoena sent to him by the U.S. House Committee on Oversight & Reform, which is looking into his team’s business practices, per the Washington Post.

The committee’s chairperson, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-N.Y.), said last Wednesday she would subpoena Snyder to testify this week after he refused to attend their hearings.
NEW from @TheWillHobson: A former Washington NFL employee accused Daniel Snyder in April 2009 of asking her for sex, groping her and attempting to remove her clothes, according to a letter sent by an attorney for the team to the woman’s lawyer that year.https://t.co/EBmgtD7mwc

“Mr. Snyder has so far refused to accept service of the Committee’s subpoena,” a committee spokesperson said in a statement Monday. “While the Committee has been, and remains, willing to consider reasonable accommodations requested by witnesses, we will not tolerate attempts to evade service of a duly authorized subpoena or seek special treatment not afforded to other witnesses who testified in this matter.”
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who did testify last week when asked, said he was not responsible for forcing Snyder to appear or testify. He also said he doesn’t have the power to remove Snyder from NFL ownership.
Snyder has made various excuses as to why he refuses to testify but Maloney doesn’t accept any of them.
“Mr. Snyder has not been held accountable,” Maloney said during the hearing. “His refusal to testify sends a clear message that he is more concerned about protecting himself than coming clean with the American people.”
Snyder could be held in contempt of Congress if he refuses to testify at the hearing. Snyder and the Commander’s organization have been accused of sexual harassment by former female employees, amongst other financial and workplace issues.

Snyder was out of the country last week and appears to still be abroad. Also out of the country, his attorney, Karen Patton Seymour, though for unrelated business, per source. https://t.co/toEuioW5TH
