The Philadelphia Eagles have gotten quite a bit of attention for their controversial tactics on their quarterback sneaks this season, using other players to push quarterback Jalen Hurts across the line of scrimmage. The Eagles were so successful with the play that it could force a rule change this offseason, and Pittsburgh Steelers star defensive tackle Cameron Heyward thinks it should be illegal anyway.

During his Not Just Football podcast, Cameron Heyward spoke out against the Eagles’ controversial tactics and claimed that the referees should throw a flag on the play because the offensive linemen “are never set.”

“It’s illegal, they’re never set,” Heyward said. “If you watch, the O-lineman are never set.”

Heyward was then asked if he thinks the NFL should change the rule to prevent players from pushing the ball carrier forward, and he thinks the league should make that change, pointing out that it used to be illegal in the first place. But he also reiterated that the Eagles’ play is illegal for a different reason: because the offensive linemen aren’t set.

“I’m triggered. Yes, it should be changed, they are never given time, they hurry up to the ball and no one is ever set. They are rolling forward, I have this on tape, we can watch it,” Heyward said. “I’m always p—-d off in these fourth downs because it’s always so skewed to the offense. I’m just confused why they switched the rule, it used to be a penalty to push your guy forward. Nobody really noticed until the Eagles were like oh this is unstoppable.”

We’ll have to see if the league makes any changes this offseason.
