Matthew Stafford has led a great NFL career. He’s thrown for 50,000 passing yards in his career and won Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams after over a decade with the Detroit Lions. The former top overall pick in the NFL Draft has accomplished a lot. So, one might wonder if retirement is on his mind.
The former University of Georgia standout appeared on Friday’s episode of ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’ Fittingly, the broadcast was live in Athens, Georgia, on the UGA campus.
During the show, Stafford addressed the possibility of retirement and admitted that he’s talked to his wife about the subject.
But the rocket-arm Stafford still wants to keep at it, he says.
“A conversation with my wife, for sure. With Kelly, you know?” Stafford admitted. “She wants to make sure that I’m getting along right, and so do I. But, once I got kind of assured that, ‘Hey man, this thing’s going to calm down. You’ll be fine. You’ll be as good as new next season,’ I was ready to go.
“At this point in my career, there’s no question I’m on the tail end of it. But I do still love playing, man. It’s still too much fun on Sundays and going to work every day,” Stafford said.

So, while the discussion was out there, don’t expect Matthew Stafford to hang it up soon.
