There’s plenty of selections for breakfast when deciding which bagel you’d like to eat for a morning snack. There are classics like the everything bagel or a variation on the cheese bagel. There are more adventurous options like a sundried tomato bagel or even a maple cinnamon french toast bagel.

One bakery in New Jersey stepped up their game and created a new bagel option that, in theory, could be great. Say hello to The Bagel Nook’s Oreo bagel.

When I say the bagel works in theory, I mean that Oreo cookies are delicious so, this monstrosity of a bagel should be too. The problem is, it really doesn’t seem like the bagel works in practice.

First of all, putting cookies inside a bagel makes it more a dessert than an actual bagel. Secondly, it seems like chocolate overload. Thirdly, cookies and cream we can respect. Cookies and cream cheese? No thank you.

We really shouldn’t knock the concoction until we try it, but it seems bakers have exercised their creative powers too far with this Franken-bagel. What’s next? A bagel stuffed with Lucky Charm’s cereal?

Just because it’s possible to make something, doesn’t mean that it should be done. Oreos are delicious, bagels are (mostly) delicious.

Together? Hard pass.
