The Florida Gators scored a major recruiting win on Early National Signing Day. Head coach Billy Napier and the Gators got five-star quarterback recruit Jaden Rashada to flip to Florida from in-state rival Miami.

Rashada, a five-star recruit on 247Sports, made headlines when he flipped from the Hurricanes to the Gators. Mario Cristobal and the Canes put together an exciting class, but it’s now without the talented Rashada.

Via On3 Sports, Rashada detailed his rationale for choosing Florida over Miami.

The Gator commit said via On3, “There was always a spot in my heart for Florida. That never went away. I just had to reevaluate things. I think what helped a lot was seeing the quarterback throughout the season as well. The positions that they put their quarterbacks in. That was a big factor too.”

Anthony Richardson starred at quarterback this season for Florida. Richardson threw for 2,549 yards, threw 17 passing touchdowns to just nine interceptions, and also rushed for 654 yards and nine rushing touchdowns. So that made enough waves for Rashada.

Speaking of Richardson, the new commit for Florida detailed a prior relationship with the Gator QB. “Me and AR have always had a relationship since I met him. Whether I went there or not it was never, he didn’t stop talking to me,” Rashada said. “I’ll ask him his opinion on some things and he would text me back right away.”
