Last week, Ohio State running back Miyan Williams stunned the college football when he had a school-record five rushing touchdowns during the team’s win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, even though he began the season as the team’s backup running back. Unfortunately, it looks like he won’t get the chance to repeat that performance.

Ohio State announced on Saturday morning that Williams would be unavailable for Saturday afternoon’s game against the Michigan State Spartans, according to Ohio State beat reporter Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors.

Williams showed no signs of injury during last week’s performance as he played well into the second half of a blowout win over the Scarlet Knights. Last week, Williams rushed for 189 yards on just 21 carries for the Buckeyes for an eye-popping 9 yards per rushing attempt against Rutgers. On the season, Williams has 497 yards and eight touchdowns and ranks second in the nation with a 7.8 yards per carry average.

In Williams’ place, Ohio State star running back TreVeyon Henderson will be available and will get the start for the Buckeyes against Michigan State. Henderson began the season as a preseason Heisman favorite as one of the top running backs in the country. He’s split carries with Williams this season and missed last week with an undisclosed injury.

In addition to Williams’ scratch, Ohio State will also be without star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba yet again as he misses his fourth game of the season after suffering a leg injury during the first drive of the team’s season-opening win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He has yet to play a full game this season.
