For the past decade, the Ohio State Buckeyes have dominated the recruiting trail, specifically in their home state of Ohio. But on Tuesday afternoon, something happened that hasn’t happened in over a decade: Ohio State lost a top-100 in-state prospect to the rival Michigan Wolverines.

On Tuesday afternoon, four-star running back Jordan Marshall out of Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, who is widely considered the top offensive high school prospect in the state of Ohio and was heavily recruited by the Ohio State Buckeyes, announced his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines.

“First of all, I just want to thank my mom and dad, family, friends, and the Moeller Community For supporting me. With that being said…I Will be Committing to the University of Michigan,” Marshall said in a tweet on Tuesday.

To make matters worse for Ohio State, Marshall’s family and friends actually grew up rooting for the Buckeyes.

“It’s going to be crazy,” Marshall told On3 of his decision to commit to Michigan instead of Ohio State. “Some of my friends are big OState fans, so is my papa. But he is going to start rooting for Michigan. I’m excited to play those guys. Just know after Blake [Corum] and Donovan [Edwards] leave, just know that we are coming back to run that ball !”

Obviously, this is a horrible miss for Ohio State, and the college football world had plenty to say about it.

Of course, this miss on the recruiting trail comes after Ohio State has already lost to Michigan twice in a row on the field. It’s safe to say that the Wolverines are turning the tide in the rivalry.
