Steve Sarkisian

Emotions were running high before the 2022 Alamo Bowl between the Texas Longhorns and Washington Huskies. However, that doesn’t excuse the awful way that Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian responded to a person who was trying to make sure he and his team didn’t take the field until it was the right time.

Video emerged on Friday of Sarkisian leading the Longhorns out onto the field. A person either working for the bowl game or for ESPN stood in front of them to make sure they didn’t rush the field before the proper time, a pretty normal part of the college football game experience. However, Sark took exception to the employee putting his hand on the coach in order to keep him from moving forward. The video, which was shared by Orangebloods’ Anwar Richardson, shows Sarkisian explode with anger as it appears he says “don’t f***ing touch me” along with some other things.

It’s an over-the-top reaction to a guy who was just doing his job. Maybe he could have been better about not putting his hand on Sark, but he clearly wasn’t doing it out of any kind of malice. It makes you wonder how Sark treats many other people just doing their job.

Given the fact that Texas’s men’s basketball coach was recently arrested over an incident that appeared to involve domestic violence, it’s a pretty bad look for Sarkisian and the university. Do all their head coaches have anger issues?

“Feels Steve Sarkisian possibly overreacted, just a bit, what do you think?” asked NFL reporter Dov Kleinman.

“It’s only one snapshot, and competitors are intense near/during game time, but this is all I need to know about Steve Sarkisian,” said Toledo Blade reporter Kyle Rowland.

We’ll see if there’s any kind of apology from the Texas coach. Lord knows how angry he must have been later on when the Huskies completed their win over the Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl.
