The Tennessee Volunteers upset the Alabama Crimson Tide for the first time in 16 years on Saturday night. The instant classic of a game featured a little bit of everything — including a player projectile vomiting on the field and using that as an intimidation tactic.

The Volunteers won the game on a last-second field goal. Their fans promptly tore down the goalposts and chucked them in the Tennessee River.

Of course, the Volunteers will need some new goalposts when they host the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks on Saturday. The university is asking fans to help with the $160,000 tab:

“Y’all remember how we tore the goalposts down, hauled em out of Neyland and dumped em in the Tennessee River? Yeah that was awesome. Anywho, turns out that in order to play next week’s game, we need goalposts on our field. Could y’all help us out?” the Tennessee football account asked.

The CFB world was quick to roast Tennessee for the move:

“I thought this was a joke for a real charity. Which would’ve been genius. Nope! Literally asking to crowdfund athletic equipment. Gross,” Nick Angstadt wrote.

“This request should reverse the result of Saturday’s win,” Zach Harper wrote.

“’Hey guys, we’re the darlings of college sports. What should we do?’ Long pause. ‘Ok .. how bout .. we be horrifically petty and ask the fans we’ve tormented for 15 years to pay for their party.’ Pause. ‘Yes! Awesome. Let’s do it,'” Brendan Quinn tweeted.

“This is what we call opportunistic fundraising. Tennessee’s athletic department brings in $140 million a year,” Stewart Mandel noted.

“Come on now… I mock UT fans a lot but this is insulting to them. Let them enjoy the game without crying poverty when you make mega millions,” Matt Jones said.

Tennessee had raised $31,545 — or 21% of its goal — as of late Sunday afternoon.
