It’s been a disappointing season so far for the Texas A&M Aggies and the latest news isn’t going to make them feel good about their chances against the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide this weekend. According to ESPN Radio’s Ian Fitzsimmons, starting quarterback Max Johnson has a broken bone in his throwing hand and will be out for some time.
“I am told Texas A&M QB, Max Johnson has a broken bone in his throwing hand. Sadly, he might be done for the season – at the least the foreseeable future,” Fitzsimmons tweeted.

Johnson suffered the injury in Texas A&M’s loss to Mississippi State last weekend. The junior, who took over the starting job following the Aggies’ upset loss to Appalachian State, has thrown for 517 yards and three touchdowns on the season. The LSU transfer was 18-of-25 passing for 201 yards and a touchdown vs. Mississippi State, though he was also sacked four times before leaving the game.
It’s presumed that Haynes King, the original starting quarterback this season, will return to that role. He replaced Johnson against the Bulldogs, going 6-of-13 for 49 yards and two interceptions.
The deck is stacked against Jimbo Fisher’s squad as they try to upset Alabama for the second-straight year, though all signs point to Nick Saban being very ready for some revenge of his own.
