Former five-star Alabama running back Trey Sanders made a big move Thursday as he transferred to TCU.

The Horned Frogs, who’ve already accumulated so much success of late, landed some more good news with Sanders‘ transfer. Sanders announced the move on his Instagram account.

“Committed,” Sanders simply wrote in the caption.

The former five-star recruit hadn’t really gotten his feet wet with the Crimson Tide. Despite playing three years with the team, he only amounted 116 carries in Tuscaloosa for just 528 yards. A transfer to TCU could open the door for him to finally be able to showcase his talents.

TCU ran the ball very effectively in 2022. The Horned Frogs ranked 16th in the nation with 206.4 rushing yards per game this season. Furthermore, they tied for 7th in the nation in yards per carry, as they accumulated 5.4 yards per rushing attempt.

So, Sanders will go somewhere again where they know how to run the football and prioritize it. Obviously, so does Alabama, but perhaps a change of scenery will allow for him to get himself going.

The transfer portal really exists for moves like this, so it’s a coup for Sanders to get a restart. TCU gets themselves a very talented player who can hopefully contribute immediately when next season comes around.
