People have kayaked all over the world, but how often has someone kayaked through a drainage pipe? We now have proof at least one guy has done it.

Drainage pipes are huge, and thus presumably big enough for a kayak and a person to try and kayak through one. One guy proved it’s possible and published proof on the good old YouTube.

That’s nuts. If only we had more information. This is all that was included with the video published Thursday in terms of information on who this is or where it was.

This guy was spending his afternoon kayaking when he came across a drainage pipe. The only thing he could do was go through it. Once inside he realized how awesome it was as he slid down at lightning speed. At the end of the tunnel, he was spit out and continued on his kayak adventure.

So many questions to ask like where is that? Why did he do it? Did it smell? Was it easy? Well, based on other videos we can probably assume the answer to whether it was easy or not is no.

While those kayakers weren’t in a pipe, the idea is the same. Additionally, while they completed the test of flying down the drainage ditch safely, it looked incredibly dangerous.

The description for the second video says they were traveling around 45 mph, which is crazy fast. On top of that, they nearly collided multiple times. Finally, the majority of the video shows them half in the water and half of the dry banks of the ditch. That doesn’t sound or look entirely safe.

In case you’re into this stuff, here’s another video of people both succeeding and failing at the incredibly odd sport of drain kayaking.

Better start preparing for this in the Olympics. Whitewater kayaking’s already there, so why not brownwater kayaking?
