Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito is out for the season with a UCL injury. That should give him plenty of time to catch up on “Seinfeld,” the famous sitcom that just so happens to feature one of his relatives.

Giolito might be a baseball star but his family is actually full of actors. His mother, Lindsay Frost, starred in “As The World Turns” and appeared on shows such as “L.A. Law,” “Frasier,” “Lost,” and CSI: Miami.”

His grandfather, Warren Frost, was also a prolific actor. Some people might know him as Doctor Hayward on “Twin Peaks,” which was co-created by his son Mike Frost. However, his biggest claim to fame might be when he played Henry Ross, father of Susan Ross, George Costanza’s fiancée, on “Seinfeld.”

Giolito recently appeared on Audacy’s Baseball Isn’t Boring podcast where he said that, while he’s a huge “Curb Your Enthusiasm” fan, he doesn’t have that much enthusiasm for “Seinfeld” despite the family connection.

“I never talked to [my grandfather] about it. I didn’t know he was on Seinfeld until I was probably a teenager,” Giolito told host Rob Bradford. “I think either I looked him up on IMDB and was like what the hell, Mom, he was on this show? Or my mom told me, something like that. He never openly talked about it.”

“I’ve seen the episodes he’s been in,” Giolito continued. “It’s cool, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is one of my favorite comedies. And Larry David, knowing that Warren got to work with him is really cool. I love “Curb” and it’s the same type of humor, but sitcoms have never appealed to me incredibly well. “Friends” and shows like that, “Seinfeld” – and I know “Seinfeld” is in its own category of being genius, and I appreciate that, but at the same time, it didn’t hit for me. Going through the first season, watching it with my buddy, I was like I wish I was watching ‘Curb.’”
