When a player scores from first base on an infield hit, it’s usually because of Little League-style hijinks. In this case, it’s just because Orlando Arcia is really, really good at baserunning.

In the span of one play, Arcia:

  • Slides head first to get from first to third on and infield single
  • Overslides third base and dodges a tag
  • Gets into a rundown between third and home
  • Outruns everyone to score on the rundown

Granted, this wasn’t outstanding fielding from the Orioles by any means. You don’t want two players running into each other on a rundown. But nobody besides Orlando Arcia is going to get through that whole sequence without getting tagged out.

  1. Best baserunning? Oversliding the bag is considered good baserunning? If the Orioles knew how to run a pickle play he’d have been chastised for his boner. And what about the pick play by the 3rd base coach? How come nothing was done or about that?

  2. Slides head first to get from first to third on and infield single?!? Proofread much?
