Opening Day is just days away as all 30 teams kick off the 2023 MLB season on Thursday, March 30. All 15 starting matchups also have been announced by the league.

There will be eight former Cy Young Award winners taking the mound for their respective teams. Sandy Alcantara (Miami Marlins), Shane Bieber (Cleveland Guardians), Corbin Burnes (Milwaukee Brewers), Jacob deGrom (Texas Rangers), Zack Greinke (Kansas City Royals), Corey Kluber (Boston Red Sox), Max Scherzer (New York Mets) and Blake Snell (San Diego Padres).

Additionally, 21 All-Stars will take the mound as starters on Opening Day and five players will take the mound for their new clubs.

Some of the Opening Day highlights include the San Francisco Giants heading to Yankee Stadium with Logan Webb facing Gerrit Cole. This will be the first time the Giants will face Aaron Judge since the attempt to sign him this offseason.

Webb himself said he believed the organization was close to acquiring the reigning American League MVP.

The Oakland A’s will host the Los Angeles Angels again this Opening Day with Kyle Muller facing Japanese star Shohei Ohtani.

Muller will make his first career Opening Day start and will become the first left-hander to start on Opening Day for Oakland since Rich Hill in 2016.

This will be Ohtani’s second consecutive Opening Day start for the Angels.

Julio Urías will make his first career Opening Day start as the Los Angeles Dodgers head to Chase Field to face the Arizona Diamondbacks. On the other side of the diamond, 27-year-old Zac Gallen will also be making his first career Opening Day start. He will be the first starter for Arizona other than Madison Bumgarner since 2019.

With all 30 teams playing on Thursday, it will mark the first time this has occurred in MLB since 1968.
