Mike Trout will continue to reign as Captain America, it sounds like.

The superstar outfielder announced before the 2023 World Baseball Classic that he intends to play again for Team USA in 2026.

“I already told them I am doing the next one,” Trout said to the MLB on Fox crew, via their Twitter. “I am already in… whatever they want, I’m in.”

Trout’s announcement comes when the sport needs its most prominent stars in the limelight. Team USA this season is already littered with stars and former MVPs.

Mike Trout may be the best of them all. The prolific Trout has earned 10 All-Star game selections and three AL MVP awards already and you always get the sense he isn’t done.

The sports world reacted to the incredible announcement.

“Let’s hope he’s lading efforts for a three-peat!” Milwaukee Brewers blog, The Brewer Nation, tweeted on their  account.

One fan dug Mike Trout’s passion for the game of baseball. “The passion Trout has for this event is gonna rub off on more American players & I can’t wait to see who plays in the next WBC event,” they said.

“Captain America,” one fan proudly tweeted.

“This is the most I’ve ever heard Mike Trout talk and be personable. WBC rules,” another fan tweeted.
