The New York Mets hosted a media tour at Citi Field on Thursday to show off new promotions and food available at the ballpark for the 2023 Major League Baseball season. The food items are quite interesting and have caught the attention of baseball fans and food enthusiasts on social media.

Two food selections that particularly stand out definitely fall on the wacky side.

First, behold the fried donut chicken sandwich, served by Jacob’s Pickles at Mets games this upcoming season at Citi Field. According to MLB.com’s Matt Monagan, this food item will feature “glazed donuts for buns” and fried chicken “in between with honey bbq sauce.”

The next item also features a glazed donut- and a lot more. It’s an ice cream milkshake from Sundae Donuts, that is topped with sprinkles, a glazed donut, and popcorn (there appears to be an alternate selection topped with Oreos).

According to Darren Rovell of the Action Network, “For the first time this year, the Mets are offering food tours before the game. Guided tour of stadium’s top vendors. $150 per person, includes a taste of everything.” And he shows off the loaded fries that will be available from Pat LaFrieda.
