The New York Yankees‘ 2022 season unraveled in a way nobody close to the team wanted to. After defeating the Cleveland Guardians in the ALDS in five games, the team was embarrassed and swept in the ALCS by the rival Houston Astros. Their woeful play down the stretch earned them a lot of criticism. Specifically, manager Aaron Boone and general manager Brian Cashman absorbed a lot of it.
Fans have let their voices be heard this season, whether it be in their direction or owner Hal Steinbrenner’s. A lot of frustration has settled in around New York and it doesn’t appear to be withering away. Especially not with looming contract negotiations with the prohibitive favorite to win the AL MVP, Aaron Judge.
Cashman spoke to the media on Friday and a lot was said.
GM Brian Cashman’s contract expired on Oct 31. But he said Hal Steinbrenner “wants me back” and “I’d like to stay.”

“GM Brian Cashman’s contract expired on Oct 31,” YES Network insider Jack Curry tweeted Friday. “But he said Hal Steinbrenner ‘wants me back’ and ‘I”d like to stay.'” In other words, Cashman is technically not under contract right now and is essentially in limbo.
Among other things, Cashman dove into postseason performance and Aaron Judge’s contract status, among many other things.
As you might expect, there were reactions from many in the Yankees base from this presser. Almost none of them were positive.

Things will always stay the same with this team if Cashman remains GM. This press conference solidifies that they're not actually interested in winning. They're interested in the process, not the results, and the process is bad and has been bad for a decade.

This man insists on IKF being good at SS. Does IKF have blackmail pictures or something? I really don't understand what is happening right now.

14 franchises have made a World Series trip since the Yankees last have,
Just about HALF of baseball has seen at least one year greater than the Yankees have experienced, despite their pay roll and resources, since 2009.
All under Brian Cashman’s watch.
Run it back though.

Hal Steinbrenner’s question to Brian Cashman has to be this:
“How do we get back here?” The answer to that determines your next contract.
