U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas speaks at a rally in support of Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt's reelection at Crossroads Church in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022. Syndication: The Oklahoman

The Houston Astros have not performed particularly well with United States Sen. Ted Cruz in attendance for their games this Major League Baseball postseason as the team has gone 0-4 with him in the stands. But that’s not keeping him away from Monday night’s American League Championship Series Game 7 against the Texas Rangers.

A spokesperson for Ted Cruz confirmed to Rolling Stone that the Senator will indeed be in attendance for Monday night’s Game 7 and insisted that despite the team’s brutal record with Cruz in attendance this postseason, Cruz has “a legendary record supporting the Stros in their biggest victories.”

“No one calls them the ‘Astros.’ Go Stros. Senator Cruz has a legendary record supporting the Stros in their biggest victories, including when he cheered the Stros on to victory on June 3, 1989, which was one of the longest baseball games in history,” the spokesperson wrote. “But go ahead, write a hit piece on Senator Cruz spending time with his young daughter cheering on their hometown heroes.”

Still, most people did not see this as a particularly good omen for Asros as people reacted to the news.

We’ll have to see whether or not the Astros can break the unfortunate streak with Cruz in attendance.
