Following the news of Tim Anderson’s six-game suspension for a fight with Jose Ramirez over the weekend, 670 The Score’s Shane Riordan shared allegations of a previous altercation Anderson was involved in.

This time, the incident involved with White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal. According to Riordan, the incident allegedly occurred before before the 2023 All-Star break. He tweeted, “Grandal wasn’t in the lineup the day before the All-Star break. Wanted to just leave early. Made it very clear. Paraphrasing, TA said: ‘**** him. If he doesn’t want to be here, I’ll pay for his flight.’ Grandal walked over to TA in the tub and slapped him across the face.”

Grandal did deny the reported incident, according to Paul Sullivan who tweeted on Monday afternoon.

The two-time All-Star shortstop has seen his share of struggles this year on and off the field, as he’s hitting a paltry .244 with just one home run in 87 games this season. He also just got in a fight over the weekend with Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez that has sent him reeling.

With a team option attached to his contract next season, it will be interesting to see if the White Sox look to re-sign Anderson or if they part ways with Anderson, their longest-tenured player, making him a free agent for the first time in his eight-year career.

The White Sox have had no shortage of issues this year, as they enter play Monday with a 45-68 record, the third-worst in the American League.
