New York Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodón has yet to pitch this season, and one popular podcast reported Monday that a source revealed he may not pitch in 2023.

Rodón’s wife, Ashley, responded to that news with a three-word tweet: “******** –reliable source.”

The two-time All-Star, who signed a $162 million free agent contract this offseason, has been sidelined by a forearm strain in his pitching arm. While that injury has improved, Rodón is now fighting back problems that have prevented him from rehabbing.

Jomboy’s “Talkin Yanks” podcast reported that, “he’s heard from sources within the Yankees organization not to get your hopes up about Carlos Rodon pitching this year.”

Ashley Rodón wasted no time with her response.

One would think Ashley Rodón is a reliable source on whether her husband will pitch this year. Then again, as his absence drags on, some Yankees fans are getting an uneasy feeling. The recent report that his back issue is “chronic” is especially troubling.

“It really sucks,” Rodón said Friday (via The New York Post). “I want to be pitching for the New York Yankees. I want to be pitching in this series and with the boys. I want to be competing. It’s hard to sit here and not be doing it and talking to [reporters].”

At least Rodón can rest assured that his wife has his back, no pun intended.
