2K Sports has revealed its final cover athlete for the upcoming release of NBA 2K23, announcing that Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker is one of the game’s cover stars.

Ahead of the cover’s formal release, Booker teased the news on Thursday morning with a cryptic tweet.

“I heard this the hardest cover they done did..? :),” Booker said on Twitter.

Shortly after the cover was formally revealed, Booker took to Twitter once again to celebrate, sharing the new cover while reacting with “AAHHHHHHHHH.”

The news had originally been broken by Shams Charania as part of the announcement of Booker’s contract extension.

Booker will not be NBA 2K23’s only cover athlete, however. Michael Jordan and WNBA legends Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi will also be on the cover of different game editions.

Jordan will be featured on the cover of the game’s aptly-named “Michael Jordan Edition,” while Bird and Taurasi will be featured on the WNBA edition of the game. Booker, meanwhile, will be on the cover of the game’s “Standard” and “Digital Deluxe” editions.

“It’s a dream come true to see myself on the cover of NBA 2K,” Booker said in a press release. “I’ve been a huge NBA 2K fan since I was a kid, and it’s surreal to finally join the exclusive club of basketball greats who’ve been cover athletes. I’m also honored to share this year’s covers with the iconic Michael Jordan, who changed the game for all players who came after him, as well as two of the all-time WNBA GOATs, Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, who continue to make a huge impact on the game.”

NBA 2K23 is scheduled to be released on Friday, September 9, 2022.
