Bol Bol may still establish himself as a useful NBA player, but that transformation won’t come in Orlando.
The Orlando Magic waived the 7-foot-2 inch power forward Tuesday after one season with the team.
Bol’s father, Manute Bol, had one of the most unusual careers in NBA history, leading the league in blocks twice, but never scoring more than 3.9 points per game in his 10 seasons. Bol Bol far exceeded that in 2022-23 in the best season of his five-year career, averaging 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds.
Bol had some moments of brilliance, such as this rebound and coast-to-coast dunk against the Toronto Raptors.

But those moments were just that, isolated moments. Now Bol, who spent his first three seasons with the Denver Nuggets, will have to prove to another team he can be an asset.
Twitter offered a curious mix of fans who really think Bol could help their team, and those advising him he should learn to speak Chinese.

He isn’t good

Bol Bol is so outside the box of what MIL looks for but I like that. We can always use hoopers outside the normal 3’s or nothing mentality. He’d be a project but would love if the Bucks took a chance.
We need an open roster spot though for the 2nd tax.
2-for-1 then TA & Bol?
