Former NBA guard Nate Robinson became a household name during his 11-year stint in the league due to his prolific dunking ability despite his small and short stature as Robinson won three different NBA Slam Dunk Contests throughout his career. But now it seems that the former star has a scary health battle.
Over the weekend, Robinson announced that he is undergoing treatment for renal kidney failure and has been battling the condition for the last four years.

“I am currently undergoing treatment for Renal Kidney Failure and have been privately dealing with it for the last four years. I am sharing this now because I want to be a voice for all those who are having trouble speaking about this illness, and come together for a greater cause – our health,” Robinson said in a statement shared by NBA insider Shams Charania. “I was never a vocal leader on the court, I preferred to lead by example, but now it’s time for me to speak up and help all those affected by or dealing with kidney disease.”
Robinson’s announcement came as quite a shock to the NBA world, which offered the former NBA star plenty of support on Twitter.
