Mississippi State pitcher Colby Holcombe A big strikeout quickly turned into a hilarious celebration mishap for a Mississippi State pitcher in Friday’s game against Ole Miss.

Rivalry games bring out extra emotions in players. In Friday night’s baseball game against Ole Miss, we saw that from Mississippi State pitcher Colby Holcombe. The results appeared to be painful.

With the game tied at one in the bottom of the seventh inning, Holcombe was in a jam. The Rebels had runners on second and third. Holcombe, though, came through with a big strikeout, freezing Calvin Harris on a 3-2 breaking ball.

Holcombe was understandably excited. And on his way off of the mound, hopped forward and let loose with a big fist pump. Then, he fell to the ground, doing the splits in the process.

Baseball fans had some fun with Holcombe after his celebration gone wrong.

There was some good news and some bad news for Holcombe after this play.

The good news (and the most important news) is that he seemed to be OK. Holcombe returned to the mound to pitch the eighth inning. So, accidentally doing the splits didn’t result in a serious injury.

Unfortunately for Holcombe and the Bulldogs, Ole Miss’ Kemp Alderman led the top of the eighth inning off with a home run, giving Ole Miss a 2-1 lead. The Rebels would go onto win 3-2.
