Amid rumors that they’re considering trading Nick Bosa, the San Francisco 49ers made it clear where they stand. The team adamantly denied that they thought about trading the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year on Wednesday.

When asked if the team would trade Bosa, Shanahan responded matter-of-factly. “No,” he said.

General manager John Lynch also added to the array of comments made on the star pass-rusher. The Pro Football Hall of Famer also expressed his thoughts on the matter with a clear message.

“No. Real simple,” Lynch said to reporters.

The 49ers probably would not behoove thesmelves to trade someone of Bosa’s caliber. Granted, they’ve made moves before with high-caliber players. This regime also traded DeForest Buckner, a former Top 10 pick, to Indianapolis after the two sides weren’t close on a long-term contract. San Francisco also just traded former Top 5 pick Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a fourth-round pick.

But don’t expect Bosa and the 49ers to be so apart. The team and the player are nearing a really treacherous deadline, as Week 1 is steadfastly approaching. But Lynch and Shanahan had a chance to express concern about the negotiations. Instead, they downplayed and suggested that everything was going to work out anyway. So, time will soon tell to see who winds up looking right in this scenario.
