When the Kansas City Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, it will be a reunion of sorts between Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and the franchise he led for 14 years. Naturally, Reid was asked about what it means to play Philly in the Super Bowl.
Reid spoke to the media on Tuesday and was asked to reflect on his tenure in Philadelphia, where he led the Eagles to six NFC championship games and a Super Bowl appearance.
“Listen, I had 14 great years there. I loved every minute of it. It’s a great organization. I still am close with the people there. It was great to see the kids that we had drafted that are now these veteran players — All-Pro players — on that team,” said Reid. “I had the chance to give them a hug last night, and now we go our separate ways and get ready to play.”
While Reid will be hoping to defeat the Eagles on Sunday, he shared that he has a lot of respect for the franchise.
“I’m proud of them and what they’ve done. I’m proud of Howie Roseman and what he’s done. He’s done a great job of retooling that team a couple of different times, and that’s not an easy thing to do. He probably didn’t get enough credit for that,” Reid said.
Reid finally won his first Super Bowl with the Chiefs a few seasons back and now he has a chance to win a second against the franchise he was once associated with.
