Ahead of Sunday night’s Super Bowl showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer caused quite a stir when he reported that Chiefs head coach Andy Reid might be considering retirement following the game. Reid seemed to shoot down that report during a few TV interviews after the game, and he made it even clearer in his postgame press conference.
When asked about his potential decision during the postgame press conference, he certainly did not sound like he was ready to walk away from the game.
“Listen, I look in the mirror and I’m old,” Andy Reid said according to Pro Football Talk. “My heart, though, is young. I still enjoy doing what I’m doing.”
Reid was specifically asked about Glazer’s report, and he had quite a candid and funny response.
“I got asked that 50 times here, finally I just go, ‘Whatever, man.’ And that’s a good friend, Jay Glazer is a good friend. So, I mean, he’s probably telling me to get my tail out, I’m too old. But I’m good with what I’m doing right now,” Reid said.
It’s certainly a big decision from Reid, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.
Imma go ahead and predict that they’ll have him.

Andy Reid waited his entire career to have a quarterback half as good as Patrick Mahomes. Unless a doctor tells him he's going to die unless he stops coaching, he's not going anywhere for a LONG time. And even that might not be enough! https://t.co/BPIj7vn9rl

The speculation about Andy Reid possibly retiring and his subsequent denial reminded me of the time then-Chiefs assistant Brad Childress told me that the emergence of Patrick Mahomes ensured Reid would coach into his 70s. He’s not letting anybody else have Mahomes.

it is wild to accurately say he is just “entering his prime.”
What a treat for us.

At the end of his press conference, Reid gave the firmest indication that he will be back.
“Listen, if they’ll have me, I’ll stick around,” Reid said.
