Kyler Murray continues to make strides in his return from an ACL injury to his right knee.

Arizona Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon offered an update on the quarterback Monday.

“Kyler’s doing a good job,” Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon told the media. “He’s on his plan. He’s having some good days, and he’ll get out there when he’s ready to go.”

In July, Murray said he didn’t have a timetable when it came to his return, but did say he essentially had himself to blame. It was more mental than anything, but did say his day-to-day is no different than if he were playing with a healthy knee.

He’s been active and very present around the Cardinals facility since suffering the injury last season.

“I get to do what I love every day — play quarterback in the NFL,” Murray told FOX News. “Did I get hurt? Yeah. Did I experience something no one wants to experience? Yeah. But it’s nothing for me to get up and work out. I was already doing that before I got hurt.”

Despite the lack of exposure on the field, Murray doesn’t feel as if he’s being left behind in learning the new playbook. He credits the coaching staff for helping him as he returns from injury.

Murray underwent surgery to repair the ACL injury on Jan. 3, and despite his wishes to return for the season opener, he is expected to miss time during the regular season.

For now, Colt McCoy got the start in place of Kyler Murray in Friday’s preseason matchup against the Denver Broncos.
