The Cincinnati Bengals spent much of the offseason retooling their offensive line to protect star quarterback Joe Burrow after the team had one of the worst offensive lines in the league last year. But due to some unfortunate luck, it looks like the Bengals will have to play several backups on the offensive line once again against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend.
Back in December, the Bengals lost offensive tackle La’el Collins for the season after he suffered a season-ending knee injury on Christmas Eve, and two more starters – Jonah Williams and Alex Cappa – suffered late-season injuries as well with Williams going down in the Wild Card round and Cappa in the final game of the regular season.
The Bengals hoped to get Williams and Cappa back this week, but it does not look like that will be the case as the two missed practice once again on Friday.
Jonah Williams (kneecap) and Alex Cappa (ankle) aren’t here for the start of practice.
The expectation is that Carman-Volson-Karras-Scharping-Adeniji will be the starting offensive line again this week.

“Jonah Williams (kneecap) and Alex Cappa (ankle) aren’t here for the start of practice. The expectation is that Carman-Volson-Karras-Scharping-Adeniji will be the starting offensive line again this week,” Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer said in a tweet.
It’s certainly pretty terrible news for the Bengals as they head into a huge AFC title game matchup with the Chiefs, and the NFL world certainly had plenty to say about it.
Alex Cappa walks onto the practice field in a hoodie. He’s out today, but there’s no more boot on his foot. https://t.co/xsNsCvc7nh

They were never going to play this week Mike. Two weeks time for a Superbow? That’s different.

Bengals OLs Jonah Williams and Alex Cappa not here at practice. They’ve been out all week with injuries.

While it is concerning news, the Bengals faced a similar situation against the Buffalo Bills last week, and the offensive line held up admirably.
Burrow has made it clear that he has confidence in whoever plays on the offensive line for the Bengals. We’ll see how they perform this weekend.
