Bill Belichick Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

Bill Belichick has spent the past 24 years as the head coach of the New England Patriots where he has led the team to six Super Bowl championships. But with his future in New England uncertain, it sounds like there’s another team that could be looking to hire him this offseason: the Washington Commanders.

According to a report from league insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, new Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris is “enamored” with the idea of bringing in Bill Belichick to serve as the team’s next head coach.

“Per a league source, Harris is enamored with the idea of Belichick coaching the Commanders. The question is whether Harris would give Belichick full control over personnel — and whether Belichick would regard the absence of final say over the roster and the draft as as dealbreaker,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk on Sunday morning.

This is obviously pretty shocking news about Belichick’s potential future in the league, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

Obviously, a lot would have to happen for Belichick to ultimately land in Washington, so we’ll have to see how this all plays out over the next few weeks.
