The Denver Broncos got some encouraging news about wide receiver Jerry Jeudy Thursday afternoon.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the fourth-year receiver suffered a “moderate hamstring injury” and is expected to miss several weeks.

“But there’s optimism it’s nothing long term for one of Denver’s top weapons,” Rapoport noted.

That’s great news for the Broncos and fans, who feared the worst earlier Thursday when Jeudy left the practice field on a cart after suffering the injury. However, it leaves his early season status up in the air. Based solely on this report, the consensus among armchair NFL doctors is he’ll miss at least a couple of games. And obviously, hamstring injuries are always a special concern with receivers given the nature of the position.

Many observers believe Jeudy is poised for a huge season, with new head coach Sean Payton and a (hopefully) new and improved Russell Wilson. Jeudy had 67 catches for 972 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Fans were both relieved and worried by the report, because hammy issues are so unpredictable.
